All questions
What exactly is a prefab pool?
A permanent in-ground pool. Its walls are galvanised steel made at the factory, and it is sealed with a PVC membrane. It has nothing to do with inflatable or removable pools. See the comparison with concrete.
Does it need a permit?
For a pool with up to 50 m² of water surface, the small-scale works approval is usually enough, filed online by an engineer. See the permit guide.
My plot is next to a forest. Is that a problem?
Often it is possible, but the engineer must first check the forest map and the building rules for the area. In Penteli, Dionysos and Varnavas we ask for this from the start.
What if we hit rock?
We break it with a hydraulic hammer or, if there is a lot of it, raise the pool a little above ground. See the raised pool.
How many days will the crew be at my house?
A few weeks, depending on the ground, size and equipment. See how we work.
Where does the water come from?
From the mains, a borehole or a water truck. See the water guide.
Will my electricity bill go up a lot?
The pump is the main consumer. A variable-speed pump running slowly most of the time cuts consumption a lot. See the plant room.
How many months can we swim?
Without heating, from late May to early October in most of Attica. A heat pump stretches the season noticeably. See climate and season.
Do we empty the pool in winter?
No. It stays full, with a cover and a lowered water level. See maintenance.
Can it have curves?
The walls give straight lines. We build rectangles, L-shapes and pools with recesses for steps or a bench. The membrane is cut to the exact shape.
How is the price worked out?
With a site visit and a written quote showing every job separately. See what drives the cost.
Do you take on pools built by someone else?
Yes, for renovation with a new membrane, once we have seen its condition. See renovation.
