The short answer
A prefab spa is a small pool, usually 2 to 3 metres, with benches, hydromassage jets and heating. It warms up quickly because it holds little water, and in Attica it is comfortably used from March to November.
What a spa has
The walls and membrane are the same as a normal pool. Inside we build benches at a height where the water reaches your shoulders when seated. The benches get jets that mix water with air. A second pump, separate from the filtration, gives the pressure for the massage.
We have built spas for holiday lets on Limnos, under a reed pergola, as in the photo.
Heating
A spa makes sense warm. The most economical option is a heat pump, which in the Attica climate works efficiently for most of the year. With a cover when not in use, heat is not lost overnight. See the plant room.
A spa next to a pool
An interesting option for large gardens is a spa beside the main pool, slightly higher, with its water spilling into the pool. In summer it is one more place to relax; in the cooler months it heats up on its own.
Where it goes
In a garden, a yard, on a roof (after a structural check) or on a terrace. Because it is small, it often needs little digging: it can be raised with cladding and a bench round it.
From our experienceOn cool October evenings in Oropos or Vilia, a warm spa is the reason our clients go out into the garden.
